How does ordering a made to measure gown work?

After you place your order, you will receive an order confirmation email with a short form to complete with your measurements. We review them before production begins.

Do you make bespoke gowns?

Yes. Alongside our collection, we create fully bespoke gowns designed around you, whether that means reworking an existing style or starting from your own idea. Bespoke commissions are priced individually and may need a little more time than our made to order gowns. Please contact us before ordering so we can discuss your vision, timeline, and a quote.

Can I customise my gown?

Yes. Most elements can be adjusted: fabric, neckline, sleeves, back closure, train length, and lining. Some changes affect the price, so please contact us before ordering and we will talk it through and confirm any adjustment first.

What colours are available?

Most gowns are offered in white or ivory as standard, with custom colours available on request.

How long will my gown take?

Production is approximately 6 to 10 weeks from the date your measurements are confirmed. Shipping is added on top: 3 to 5 business days to the UK, US and EU, and 5 to 7 for the rest of the world.

Where are your gowns made?

Sylk Atelier gowns are designed in England, UK, and cut by our long-standing dressmaking partner in Suzhou, the wedding dress capital of the world, to your exact specifications.

Will I pay customs or import duties?

Depending on your country, your order may attract import duties or taxes on arrival. These are set by your local customs authority and are the customer's responsibility. We recommend checking your local rules before ordering.

How much is shipping?

Worldwide, fully tracked shipping is complimentary on every order.

Do you accept returns?

Because each gown is made to order, we cannot accept returns or refunds for a change of mind or sizing preference. If a gown arrives with a tailoring fault or differs materially from your confirmed order, email us within 7 days with your order number and photographs and we will arrange a remake at no cost. This does not affect your statutory rights.

All Sylk Atelier gowns are made to order at our atelier partner in Suzhou, China. Please allow 6 to 10 weeks for production before your order is dispatched. You will receive a tracking number by email as soon as your gown is on its way.

Carriers

We ship via FedEx, UPS, and DHL Express. All orders include full tracking from dispatch to delivery.

Estimated Transit Times

The following times are from dispatch date and are in addition to your production window.

United Kingdom: 3 to 5 business days
United States: 3 to 5 business days
European Union: 3 to 5 business days
Rest of world: 5 to 7 business days

Transit times are estimates and may be affected by customs clearance, public holidays, or carrier disruption outside our control.

Customs, Duties, and Taxes

Depending on your country, your order may be subject to import duties, taxes, or customs fees on arrival. These charges are levied by your local customs authority and are your responsibility. We are unable to predict or cover these costs. We recommend checking your local regulations before placing your order. Customers based in the United States should be aware that import duty thresholds and rates on goods from China are subject to change. We recommend checking current US Customs and Border Protection guidance before ordering.

Lost or Damaged in Transit

In the rare event that your order arrives damaged or is confirmed lost by the carrier, please contact us at sylkatelier@gmail.com within 7 days with your order number and photographs where applicable. We will lodge a claim with the carrier and arrange a remake at no cost to you.

Tracking Your Order

Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a tracking number by email. You can use this to monitor your delivery directly on the carrier's website.
