How does ordering a made to measure gown work?

After you place your order, you will receive an order confirmation email with a short form to complete with your measurements. We review them before production begins.

Do you make bespoke gowns?

Yes. Alongside our collection, we create fully bespoke gowns designed around you, whether that means reworking an existing style or starting from your own idea. Bespoke commissions are priced individually and may need a little more time than our made to order gowns. Please contact us before ordering so we can discuss your vision, timeline, and a quote.

Can I customise my gown?

Yes. Most elements can be adjusted: fabric, neckline, sleeves, back closure, train length, and lining. Some changes affect the price, so please contact us before ordering and we will talk it through and confirm any adjustment first.

What colours are available?

Most gowns are offered in white or ivory as standard, with custom colours available on request.

How long will my gown take?

Production is approximately 6 to 10 weeks from the date your measurements are confirmed. Shipping is added on top: 3 to 5 business days to the UK, US and EU, and 5 to 7 for the rest of the world.

Where are your gowns made?

Sylk Atelier gowns are designed in England, UK, and cut by our long-standing dressmaking partner in Suzhou, the wedding dress capital of the world, to your exact specifications.

Will I pay customs or import duties?

Depending on your country, your order may attract import duties or taxes on arrival. These are set by your local customs authority and are the customer's responsibility. We recommend checking your local rules before ordering.

How much is shipping?

Worldwide, fully tracked shipping is complimentary on every order.

Do you accept returns?

Because each gown is made to order, we cannot accept returns or refunds for a change of mind or sizing preference. If a gown arrives with a tailoring fault or differs materially from your confirmed order, email us within 7 days with your order number and photographs and we will arrange a remake at no cost. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Bust * Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level and not pulled too tight. Waist * Measure around your natural waist, usually the smallest part of your torso. High hip * Measure around your upper hip area, across the top of your hip bones and lower stomach. Low hip * Measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom, keeping the tape level. Shoulder to waist * Measure from the top of your shoulder, down over the bust, to your natural waist. Waist to floor * Measure from your natural waist straight down to the floor while standing upright. Height * Enter your full height from the top of your head to the floor, without shoes. Event shoe height * Enter the heel height of the shoes you plan to wear with the dress. Shoulder width * Measure across the back from one shoulder edge to the other. Armhole circumference * Measure around the shoulder and underarm where the armhole of the dress would sit. Bicep circumference For sleeve dresses only. Measure around the fullest part of your upper arm. Arm length For sleeve dresses only. Measure from your shoulder edge to your wrist, or to your preferred sleeve end.

The visible corset bones are set into the bodice as a structural and decorative element. They follow the lines of the boning beneath and read as a deliberate finish. The off-shoulder construction is supported by the boning and sits securely across both collarbones.
